I was reading some threads over the weekend on how to change the fuel filter.
I noticed two different ways of releasing the fuel pressure, one being remove the fuel pump fuse and letting it run dry.
I also noticed, quite a few people didn't know which fuse was which, so here is a diagram of the fuse layout on my 99 4WD.
Hope this helps at least one person.

easiest way to release fuel pressure is to simply pop off a line and let is spray out till
the pressures gone, i dont see the big deal with this. rags soak up gas pretty good.

Wow:confused:
After seeing first hand what gas can do if ignited (brother had 3rd degree burns on 18% of his body) I would NEVER suggest this. It is easier to have the engine running and pull the fuse or relay to the fuel pump and let the engine die from no fuel. By the way thanks for the posted diagram ALLDONEIN.
One of the things that we should all strive to do is work in a way that we can finish the job the next day without a trip to the ER in between.

just my 2 cents...

2002 fuse box - slightly different

it seems the 01-02 models have a slight different design for fuses, and they use the smaller ones.

Find attached the electric diagram of my 2002 Sporty, which is identical to GPSportage picture.

Hope it helps.

If you are missing the label on the cover, you can copy

one of these and print it out on label material and

stick it on the cover:

STOCK PERFORMANCE MODEL:

HIGH PERFORMANCE MODEL:
